Let’s Talk About Family Sessions: Which Is Best For You
I get it… session pricing and titles can feel confusing. You scroll, you see “Keepsake,” “Story,” “Legacy,” and maybe your brain goes, “Okay… which one do I actually need?” Let’s just clear that up right now, as simply as possible.
Here’s the deal: my family sessions are designed to be simple, flexible, and fun. They’re also designed to give you beautiful memories without us burning out. Because let’s be honest, there’s only so much running, posing, and convincing little humans to look at the camera one more time I can do in a day and I know there's only so much you all are willing to do in a day! (and I'm not trying to give your kids - or husbands - photo-trauma!)
Keepsake Family Session
for the sweet, simple moments
Time: 30 Minutes
Images included: 12 edited image downloads
This is perfect for families who want a quick, meaningful session — maybe just your little family, maybe a few kids, maybe your dog crashing the shot (I promise I’ll get their picture too). Your full gallery will likely include:
- a full family shot
- parents only
- kiddos together
- individual shots of the little ones
- shot of mom with the littles
- shot of dad with the littles
- …and a few fun, candid images sprinkled in.
It’s great if you’re short on time, have a busy season, or just want a set of memories without going full marathon mode.
Story Family Session
for the moments that need a little more time
Time: One Hour
Images included: 30 edited image downloads
Think of this as the option to better showcase your family's story… but, you know, in a gentle, not so overwhelming, non-exhausting way. Story sessions are ideal if you’re planning something extra, like:
- outfit changes
- celebrating a special milestone that needs to be honored
- bigger family chaos that needs some structure
- or just want a little more variety than Keepsake allows
You still get the full family breakdowns: solo shots, group shots, and your favorite candid moments - just with more breathing room!
Legacy Family Session
for when you want it all
Time: Up to 90 Minutes
People Included: Up to 10
Images included: Full Gallery Download (unlimited images)
This one’s for families who want the whole story — the full gallery, all the details, every shot you can imagine without worrying about counting images. Legacy sessions are ideal for:
- large families/extended families
- families with multiple kids or grown kids and their families
- those who just want it all, because you only get one childhood and one family chaos-filled life
If you’ve got grandparents or extra family joining, we’ll still make it work! We just charge $20/person beyond 10 to cover the extra logistics. I promise, it’s worth it.
How booking and payments work
Again, the goal here is to keep it simple...
Pick your session (the one that works best for you and your family). Yes, you can take your time. Check out the calendar, pick a date and start the booking process. Once your session is accepted...
- $100 retainer to reserve your date. And a signed contract. That’s it for now.
- Remaining balance due by session date.
- Questionnaire to your inbox to help plan your perfect session.
- Gallery delivered within 1–2 weeks of session date. (depending on seasons and workload, I'll give you a better idea of what timeline to expect at your session)
Optional upgrades after gallery delivery (for Keepsake/Story this means adding a few more images if you want, or even upgrading to a full gallery download if you just can't choose).
FAQ / Q&A: All About Booking & Sessions
Q: Can I pay in installments?
A: Absolutely! If the full balance feels like a punch to the wallet, we can break it up weekly, monthly, whatever works. You get the memories, not the stress. Shoot me an email and request a payment plan, we'll work it out!
Q: If I book a Keepsake, can I upgrade to Story or Legacy later?
A: Totally! Life happens, and sometimes you realize, “I actually need more images or more time.” Just let me know before your session, and we’ll adjust - although I am limited by my calendar so if there are other appointments that prevent me from expanding your session we might have to reconfigure dates/times/locations, but I will always do my best to accommodate the session of your choice.
Q: Can we add extra family members?
A: Yep!! For Keepsake and Story, it’s $20/person beyond the included number. For Legacy, we cap at 10 people, and the same $20/person applies after that. More people = more fun, just a little extra logistics (and coffee for me).
Q: How many images will we get?
A: Depends on your session tier:
- Keepsake: 12 edited images
- Story: 30 edited images
- Legacy: Full gallery
With any session I will deliver as many beautiful and edited images as possible from your session and you get to choose your favorites to download. And don’t forget... Keepsake and Story families can upgrade after seeing their gallery if they fall in love with more images.
Q: How long until we get our gallery?
A: 1–2 weeks. I know it feels like forever, but it’s worth the wait — I promise! Depending on how full my calendar is might affect the turn-around time, but ultimately I will always prioritize sessions in the order of which they're shot on my calendar. I'll communicate with you at your session what to expect!
Q: Can we bring pets / props / grandparents?
A: Bring all the chaos! I love it. Just keep in mind extra people beyond your session’s included number are $20/person for Keepsake/Story. Legacy handles a few more, but still needs a little heads-up and $20/person for any people over the initial 10. Anything special to you that you want to incorporate, such as heirloom quilts, birthday balloons, etc.... BRING IT! I you love it, I love it.
Q: Can we book our session for a special event / milestone?
A: Absolutely! Birthdays, anniversaries, family reunions - if it’s special to you, it’s special to me. We’ll plan it so your story is captured beautifully.
